 Born in 1971 in Antakya/Hatay, he completed his primary, secondary and high school education in Antakya. In 1993, he graduated from Selçuk University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Public Administration. In 1995, he joined Niğde University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Public Administration as a Research Assistant. He completed his master's degree at Selçuk University, Institute of Social Sciences, Department of Management Sciences in 1996 with his study titled ‘Democracy in local governments and participation in management’. He completed his doctorate education in 2001 at Sakarya University, Institute of Social Sciences, Department of Public Administration with his thesis titled ‘New public administration understanding (A research on metropolitan and provincial municipalities)’. He worked as an Assistant Professor in Niğde University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Public Administration in 2002 and as an Associate Professor in 2008. In 2009, Veysel EREN started to work as an Associate Professor at Hatay Mustafa Kemal University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Public Administration and became a Professor in the field of Management Sciences in 2014.

      Prof. Dr. Veysel EREN, in every stage of his professional life, has addressed many important and current problems of the field of public administration in the light of developments in the world and has signed many academic studies. Among his academic studies, he has focused on topics such as New Public Management, Strategic Management, Performance Management, Crisis Management, Local Governments, Civil Society Organisations, Reform in Management, Information Technologies and Public Administration, Organisational Commitment, Migration and Cohesion Policies, Presidential Government System. In this context, he has written many national and international articles and presented papers. In addition, EREN has books and dozens of book chapters prepared individually and with teams with the titles of State Transformation and New Era Public Administration (2008), Local Governments and Urban Policies from Theory to Practice (2013), Performance Management in Public Sector (2020) and Crisis Management in Public Sector (2022). In addition to these academic studies, he has taken part in national and international projects. He has also supervised many students at the graduate level and trained master's and doctoral graduates. He also carried out studies on Turkey's important problems with the students he supervised. With his PhD students, he has worked on topics such as the Presidential Government System, Social Media and Participation in Governance, Turkey's Water Management and Policies, Evaluation of the Success and Failure of Public Policies in the Context of Renewable Energy Policies.

    In addition to his academic studies, Prof. Dr. Veysel EREN has successfully carried out many administrative duties in the universities where he has worked. Some of these duties are; Head of Department, Head of Department, Vice Dean, Vice Rector, Member of the University Senate, and Membership of the Board of Directors and Faculty Boards in many faculties and colleges. He served as the head of the department during the establishment phase of Niğde University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences Department of Public Administration. Prof. Dr. Veysel EREN, who served as the acting Dean of the Faculty of Communication at Hatay Mustafa Kemal University between 2014-2023, speaks fluent German, intermediate English and Arabic. As of 9 December 2022, EREN was appointed as the Rector of Hatay Mustafa Kemal University and is married and has two children.
