Özet

Thyroid hormones play an important role in processes such as folliculogenesis and placentation. There is a close relationship between thyroid diseases and female reproductive diseases. In this study, the ovarian reserves and inflammatory effects of carvacrol against hyperthyroidism were evaluated. Thirty-five Wistar albino female rats were randomly divided into groups with equal numbers of animals in each group: control, solvent, hyperthyroidism, carvacrol, hyperthyroidism+carvacrol. In the hyperthyroidism group, increases were observed in ovarian TNF-α and IL-6 levels, while no change was observed in AMH levels. In the inflammatory effects caused by hyperthyroidism, carvacrol treatment was observed to have an anti-inflammatory effect, while it did not cause a statistically significant difference in ovarian reserves. In conclusion, it is thought that carvacrol has beneficial effects on ovarian activities in hyperthyroidism, but it would be beneficial to examine different doses and treatment regimens of carvacrol and to conduct clinical studies.
