Purpose: The aim of the study was to investigate the knowledge, attitudes, behaviours of chronic renal failure (CRF) patients treated by hemodialysis (HD) on their disease. Material and Methods: A hundred forty-one patients were included in the study. Data were collected through the questionnaire method and evaluated by Chi-square test. Results: The mean age was 48.2 for males and 48.1 years for females, respectively. The uneducated participant rate was 38.3%. According to the anamnesis, the main reasons of CRH were determined as hypertension and diabetes mellitus (DM) for approximately half of the patients. As the duration of the dialysis treatment increases, dietary adherence decreases. However, a great majority of the patients were affected by CRF and HD, a small minority have obtained psychiatrical support. As the age of the patients increases, the rate of the patients believing their future kidney transplantation operations decreases. The main reason for preferring the private dialysis was determined as social security (65.9%). 57.4% of the patients complained about the health professionals for not providing enough knowledge on their disease. Conclusion: According to our results, the social and psychological manners of the hemodialysis patients were not good enough, the patients should receive professional aid from psychological treatment services and they should receive knowledge on their disease from health professionals.
