Özet
The Kula volcanoes and their surroundings in the Kula district of Manisa province show interesting geological features. Volcanic activity in this region continued until the beginning of the fourth geological period. There have been eruptions in this area at various times and lava flows have spread into the surrounding area. As a result of these geological features the area has historically been known as the “Burnt Land (Katakekaumene)”. In this chapter, the area of Kenger located very close to this region has been selected. We have attempted to evaluate the ethnobotanical features of this interesting location. The study included recording uses of the plants distributed here and determines how the local people have traditionally used plants as a source of treatment and food. Our findings revealed that 52 plants are used as food, 32 in folk medicine and 11 as spices. This data is expected to contribute towards the promotion of traditional uses of plants in the area, evaluation of local products in the markets thereby providing opportunities to ensure both environmental and economic sustainability in this geologically interesting volcanic area.
