Abstract:

Mediterranean fruit fly (Medfly), Ceratitis capitata (Wiedemann) (Diptera: Tephritidae) is one of the most important pests of citrus fruits in Turkey. The study was carried out in 2022 to control the Mediterranean fruit fly, Ceratitis capitata by mass trapping and to determine the damage rate in early-late citrus varieties found in Danışment, Araplar (Sağdıçlı), Çağırkanlı villages in Yüreğir district of Adana province. A hundred of Decis traps were used by mass trapping in each mandarin orchard. Except for the early-late mandarin trees where the traps are set, 50 trees were selected from each plot every week, and a total of 1000 fruits from each orchard, 20 from each tree, were checked and the number of early-late mandarin fruits with strikes was recorded. During the sampling period, 1627 Medfly in Rize and 217 Medfly in Döbeshi-Beni mandarin variety were caught by 100 Decis traps in Danışment Village of Yüreğir district in Adana province. In addition, 290 Medfly on Primasol mandarin variety were caught by 100 Decis traps in Şıhmurat Village, 671 Medfly in Miho-Wase mandarin variety and 1038 Medfly in Döbeshi-Beni mandarin variety were caught by 100 Decis traps in Çayırkanlı Village of the Yüreğir district in Adana province. In the observations made on 1000 fruits from the early-late mandarin orchards sampled every week during the sampling period, no Medfly damage was found in Rize, Döbeshi-Beni, Primasol, Miho-Wase and Döbeshi-Beni mandarin varieties.
