Hatay ilinde pamuk çeşitleri üzerinde pamuk bitki tahtakuruları, Lygus Spp. (Hemıptera: Mırıdae)'nin popülasyon yoğunluğunun bitkinin fenolojik dönemlerine göre belirlenmesi

Abstract:

This study aimed to investigate the temporal dynamics, regional variations, and varietal differences in the population density of Lygus spp. in cotton fields of Hatay Province during 2023 and 2024. In 2023, a total of 1,315 adult and nymph individuals were recorded using the sweep-net method across nine cotton fields in Antakya, Reyhanlı, and Altınözü districts. The results indicated a fluctuating population pattern without a clear upward trend. The highest density was recorded on July 24. Among the districts, Antakya showed an early peak, Reyhanlı reached its maximum density later, while Altınözü maintained lower and more stable populations. In terms of varieties, MAY455 peaked earlier, ARMADA reached maximum values at a later stage, and BA1010 exhibited relatively lower and more stable densities. In 2024, a broader sampling effort was carried out across fifty cotton fields in Antakya, Reyhanlı, Kırıkhan, Kumlu, and Altınözü, yielding a total of 7,304 individuals. Compared to 2023, population dynamics in 2024 displayed a more consistent upward trend, with densities rising from mid-July and peaking in August. Regular increases were observed in Antakya and Altınözü, while fluctuating patterns were recorded in Reyhanlı, Kırıkhan, and Kumlu. Among the varieties, BA911 and ARMADA exhibited the highest densities, BA1010 showed a steady increase, while MAY455 remained relatively lower. Findings demonstrated a strong association between Lygus spp. population dynamics and the phenological development of cotton, particularly during the generative stages. These results provide valuable insights for optimizing the timing of control measures and for developing integrated pest management strategies.
