Abstract:The European Grapevine Moth (EGM), Lobesia botrana (Denis & Schiffermüller) (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae), is one of the most important pest of grapevine in Turkey. The study was conducted in 2012-2013 in three different viticulture areas of Manisa province, in order to determine the population density and damage rate of L. botrana. European grapevine moth pheremone (10 mg, (E,Z)-7,9-dodecadienyl acetate) with delta traps were used. All the grapevines were seedless Sultani variety. Two traps were placed for each of the vineyards. Traps were checked weekly and adult moths were counted and cleaned. Pheremones used in the traps were changed in every 40 days. During harvest time, 100 cluster of grapes were checked to determine larval damage rate, except from the clusters of the vines on which the traps were set up. Population density of the EGM differed for sampling locations and years. In the first year of the study, a total of 844 EGM adults were caught by the pheremone traps. The first adults were caught on 27th May. The highest number of adults caught was on 15th July followed by 22nd and 29th July. The ratios of the EGM adults caught by the pheremone traps were, in descending order, 49.4% in July, 22.39 % in June, 17.65 % in August, 6.99% in September and 3.55 % in May. In the second year of the study, a total of 846 EGM adults were caught by the pheremone traps. The first adults were caught on 26th May. The highest number of adults caught was on 28th July followed by 2nd June and 7th July. The ratios of the EGM adults caught by the pheremone traps were, in descending order, 39.83% in July, 31.56 % in June, 19.26 % in August, 5.31 % in September and 4.01% in May. Damage rate of the EGM differed for sampling locations and years. In the first year the highest damage rate observed was in the Vineyard III with 7%, followed by Vineyard II with 6% and Vineyard I with 5%. . In the second year the highest damage rate observed was in the Vineyard III with 5%, followed by Vineyard II with 3% and Vineyard I with 2%. It was determined that there were three overlapping generations of EGM in the sampled area for both of the years.
