Abstract:Mediterranean fruit fly (Medfly), Ceratitis capitata (Wiedemann) (Diptera: Tephritidae) is an important pest of citrus fruits in Türkiye. The study was carried out in 2021-2022 to investigate the effectiveness of trimedlure and attractants against the pest of C. capitata on citrus varieties and determine the damage rate in Hatay and Osmaniye provinces. The studies were conducted in 2021-2022, traps baited with trimedlure caught more C. capitata than traps baited with other attractants. In 2021, the highest number of medfly caught by traps on Rize cultivar, followed by Novelina, Okitsu (Toprakkale), Dobashi beni, Okitsu (Erzin), Miho-wase, Washington, Satsuma cultivars, respectively. In 2022, the highest number of medfly caught by traps on Novelina and Rize cultivars, followed by Miho-wase, Dobashi ben, Okitsu (Toprakkale), Okitsu (Erzin), Satsuma and Washington cultivars, respectively. Thirty fruits were checked in 2021-2022 from different directions from the tree next to the tree where each trap was hung. In 2021, the highest percent of damage rates was observed on Dobashi beni (2.22) in Erzin district, followed by Satsuma (1.83), Okitsu (Toprakkale) (1.75), Novelina (1.16), Okitsu (Erzin) (1.42) and Miho-wase (0.58) in Toprakkale district. In 2022, the highest percent of damage rates was observed on Satsuma (2.5) in Erzin district and Okitsu (2.5) in Toprakkale district, followed by Miho-wase (2.08) in Toprakkale district, Okitsu (1.90), Dobashi beni (1.77) and Novelina (0.5) in Erzin district. Thirty fruits were checked in 2021-2022 from different sides of 10 randomly selected trees in the same orchard. In 2021, the highest percent of damage rates was observed on Okitsu (Toprakkale) (2.66), followed by Dobashi beni (2), Okitsu (Erzin) (1.33), Satsuma (1.33), Novelina (1) in Erzin district and Miho-wase (0.33) in Toprakkale district. In 2022, the highest percent of damage rates was observed on Okitsu (Toprakkale) (2.33) and Okitsu (Erzin) (2.33), followed by Miho-wase (1.33) in Toprakkale district, Dobashi beni (1), Satsuma (1.0), Novelina (0.33) in Erzin district. No damage was observed on Rize cultivar in 2021-2022.
